A lawmaker has strongly oppose the proposed National Grazing Reserve Bill, saying its capable of Consuming the whole country and should not be allowed to
stay.
Senator Rowland Owie, a former chief whip
has kicked against the passage of the
National Grazing Reserve Bill describing it as
time bomb which posses grave danger to
the peace and unity of Nigeria.
Owie noted that the House of
Representatives should push the bill to
northern governors as an executive bill to
their state Houses of Assembly.
“The bill has the potential of creating more
tension and ultimately more violence. It is
wasteful, self-serving, retrogressive,
discriminatory and deceitful.
“The grazing reserve bill must not be passed.
It is a time bomb. If it becomes law, Nigeria
will be no more a nation within 10 years. It is
a dangerous bill.
“I advise Sunday Karimi from Kogi state and
Sadiq Ibrahim from Adamawa state, to pass
the bill to the northern governors to make it
executive bill to their state Houses of
Assembly to create grazing land in their
respective states, period. I call on well
meaning Nigerians to rise against the
bill,” Owie said.
Similarly, Femi Fani-Kayode
recently described the proposed National
Grazing Reserve bill as more evil than Boko
Haram insurgency.
The proposed bill aims at creating specific
grazing areas as well as reducing recent
attacks on state and communities in Nigeria
by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
