God Loved Nigeria When Goodluck Jonathan Was President But Hates it NowNow

This Country Nigeria and our operation is so
nasty… The All ProgressiHads Congress
(APC) led federal government is being
deceptive and their reign is defective.
Can you imagine that the Vice President
Yemi Osinbajo came out last week to say
that the fuel price hike is not because of
the subsidy removal but foreign exchange
and today the petroleum minister Emmanuel
Kachikwu confirms it is a subsidy removal.
The vice president came out again to say
that we are ready to devalue the Naira
currency but the Central Bank of Nigeria
(CBN) denies it.
However, it has been confirmed from all
indications that Naira has been devalued and
the US Dollar at the CBN rate moved from
197 to 290 as of yesterday, and on the
parallel market, the dollar was sold at
355-380.
President Buhari has been under fire recently
over the fuel subsidy removal
When someone tries to be mischievous, he
does not let people know exactly what he is
up to. This is how the federal government
has been playing hide & seek game with our
economy & Nigerians at large.
When ex-president Goodluck Jonathan
proposed a total deregulation of the
downstream sector of the petroleum
industry, worked out all the modalities in
order to ensure a smooth take off, the APC
misled the country, and mobilized the
masses against the Jonathan led
government with misinterpretation of the
policy.
However, today they have suddenly realised
that deregulation is the way to go and now
rather than come out openly to enlighten the
nation on their plans and setting out
modalities, they begin to play games
because they are insincere and insensitive
to the masses.
The Jonathan government foresaw rainy
days after a critical analysis of our economy
by the technocrats that worked with him as
ministers.

for seeking GEJ’s help
They came up with a proposal to the
National Economic Council (NEC) made up
of all the governors of Nigeria and the
leaders of our legislature and the Council of
State made up of our past and present
heads of state that Nigeria needs to state
saving some portion of our oil earnings for
the rainy days.
They also proposed that we should build up
our foreign reserves in preparation for the
rainy days, but guess what APC governors
did, they took the federal government to
court for them to share the savings
(Sovereign Wealth Fund).
In addition, the money was shared to the
states & many state governors siphoned the
money & starched them in foreign banks.
Today, the same people accuse Jonathan for
everything. I pity the gullible Nigerians!
How can a government move a harsh
economic policy without palliatives?
However, Jonathan established SURE-P to
cushion the effect of gradual removal of
subsidy and it helped in many ways until
now.
Ex-president Goodluck Jonathan
However, President Muhammadu Buhari has
no plan of action and the next thing is to
abruptly hike fuel price with no consideration
for the masses… We slept only to wake up
and buy fuel at an outrageous price within
24 hours of the announcement.
The dollar then suddenly went up
outrageously against the Naira within 24
hours.
The deception of this government and its
defective policies have brought fear and too
many uncertainties in the polity. A
government that has no clear-cut agenda is
unfit to be in power.
Another pathetic thing about Nigerians is the
“it is well” syndrome, the “God will help us”
syndrome. The suffering and smiling spirit
has taken over our lives & we sit tight doing
nothing while our insensitive/insensible
leaders play games on us with our economy.
I begin to wonder whether it is God that will
come from Heaven to point out the ills of
our leaders as if we are not seeing or
experiencing Had.
